– Niger state APC suspended nine legislators from the National Assembly – Those affected are three senators and six House of Representatives members who have not paid their dues Three senators and six House of Representatives members have been suspended by the All Progressives Congress in Niger state for not paying their party dues. Barrister Mohammed Liman, the secretary of the party in the state said, only four federal House of Reps members out of the 13 legislators at both chambers of the National Assembly produced by the party have paid their dues till date, Channels TV reports.
He said: “The constitution of our party is very clear on it, it says any member or political appointee that came into being through the platform of our party and fails to pay his dues is technically not a member of the party.
“The constitution says you must pay your dues as and when due. This means technically they have suspended themselves.” “Those we elected did not deem it fit to support the party financially, and how do they want the part to move on?”
According to him, they stand suspended technically for deliberately refusing to pay their dues. The three senators affected are Mustapha Sani Mohammed (Zone A), David Umaru (Zone B), and Aliyu Abdullahi Sabi (Zone C). Those affected at the federal House of Representatives include Hon. Mohammad Mahmood of Lapai/Agaie federal constituency, and Muhammed Bala Faruk of Bida/Gbako/Kacha constituency. Others are Ahmed Abu representing Lavun/Edati/Mokwa constituency, Shehu Sule representing Magama/Rijau constituency, Salihu Adamu Shadafi of Bosso/Paikoro Constituency and Abubakar Lado Abdullahi of Suleja/Tafa/Gurara constituency. The APC has been suspending some of its members in different states across the country. In February, the Kebbi state chapter of the party suspended a member of the House of Assembly, Hon. Sani Idris Umar for insubordination. The Benue state chapter of the APC also suspended at least 15 party leaders in the state.
