The Opeyemi Bamidele appeal panel has upheld the report of the Aminu Masari panel report into the APC primaries upholding the outcome of the party primaries but at the same time calling for urgent reconciliation among the various tendencies in the party.
The committee report was submitted to the National Working Committee, NWC yesterday.
Although the
appeal panel
declined to reveal
the outcome of its
findings,
Vanguard
gathered that “its
recommendations
were not
substantially
different from
those of the
Aminu Masari-led
Primary Election
Committee.”
The Masari committee had reported allegations of bias on the part of Gov. Adams Oshiomhole, urging the NWC to bring all the contestants together with its candidate, Godwin Obaseki for immediate reconciliation.
Two aggrieved aspirants, Kenneth Imasuagbon, and Chris Ogienwonyi, had appealed the conduct of the primary, alleging that there were many irregularities and manipulation in the process.
Presenting his report, Bamidele thanked the leadership of the party for the opportunity given to him and other members of the committee, saying contents of the report would only be revealed by the party after its chairman; Chief John Odigie-Oyegun might have perused it.
“As to the content of our report and the conclusion drawn and recommendations, you’ll hear further from the party, I am not in position to speak on that,” he said.
He maintained that the committee did justice to all the petitions received saying the petitioners were given opportunity to bring their agents and lawyers to make their presentations.
Responding, Chief Odigie-Oyegun expressed hope that the report presented by the committee will enable the party lay to rest all issues regarding the primary election.
