The scripture in Genesis 6:3 states thus:
And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
Gen 6:3KJV
God has resolved not to always strive with man by His Spirit. Here He tendered His displeasure of the corruption of man’s flesh. At normal circumstances the Holy Spirit strives with sinners by the convictions and admonitions of their conscience to turn their heart from sin to God. If the Spirit of God is resisted, quenched or striven against, though He strives long, He will not strive always. The reason for this resolution is that man is flesh; that is, he is incurably corrupt, carnal and sensual. It is the corrupt nature and the inclination of his soul towards the things of the flesh that opposes the Spirit’s striving thus rendering His efforts ineffective.
It is needful to draw our attention to this fact that even when God realized that we have sinned and corrupted our bodies, He still showed us mercy by allowing us to spend a maximum of 120 years here on earth. If we therefore live on this earth of corruption for less than this age we have not met with God’s minimum age standard; therefore, as far as God is concerned we died young and did not enjoy the full measure of the unmerited favor He provided to keep our body healthy for His service. Those who believe God and walk in accordance to His delight should begin to target beyond 120years until their term of service expires.
The scripture in Psalms 91:16 states thus:
With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
Ps 91:16 KJV
A life of less than 120 years cannot be classified as long life or a life well spent in accordance with God’s standard. The quality of flesh God created even in its fallen state has in it the ability to resist total decay or death if properly managed thus can live far beyond 120 years. This means that God had already made divine provision to take care of the sicknesses and diseases that will afflict our bodies on account of our sinful nature.
What a Wonderful and Perfect God we have.
Paul the Apostle, declined to go and be with the Lord when he saw the extent of work in the ministry yet to be accomplished that was handed over to him. He saw the multitude of people ready to be harvested for Christ. He chose to remain here to continue with the work because the laborers were few. He denied himself the privilege of going to heaven to be with the Lord considering the work in getting as many people as possible into the kingdom of God as prime. This should be the mindset of the saints of God these last days.
The scripture in Philippians 1:23-26 reported thus.
For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith; That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.
Phil 1:23-26 KJV
Jesus Christ is not only interested in the redemption of our spirit and soul but also our body.
The scripture in 1Thessalonians 5:23-24 attests to this truth.
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
1 Thess. 5:23-24 KJV
God knows that we cannot serve Him effectively when we are wreaked by sicknesses and diseases therefore He had installed this divine provision inside of our body to cure us so that we can serve Him in good health.
For this purpose He took upon Himself the nature of man and bore our sicknesses and diseases. In spite of the stripes and bruises He received for our sakes, He declared free healing for us all. When He further paid the ultimate price of death for the Salvation of our soul, He cried out to His Father stating thus:
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
Luke 23:3 KJV
The scripture in 1 Peter 2:24 reminds us of what the prophet Isaiah had prophesied of Christ’s mission here on earth: that by His stripes we were healed.
