A believer who is yet to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit lacks the revelation in his spirit because the eyes of his understanding is closed to the spiritual world. Immediately he receives the baptism of the Spirit, his intuition suddenly becomes acutely sensitive to explore the spiritual world. At this instance he can freely utilize the powers of God to war against the devil and his cohorts, This is where spiritual warfare begins in reality. Only those who are spiritual as the scriptures reveal in Ephesians 6:12-18 can perceive the reality of spiritual foe thus engage in spiritual battles..
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Eph 6:12-18 KJV
It is needful to realize that the conflict is spiritual so must the weapons. Therefore the warfare is not fought with the arm of flesh.
The scripture in 2Corinthians 10:4-6 attests to this truth:
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. 2 Cor 10:4-6 KJV
A child of God cannot just engage in the battle of the spirits because he lacks the understanding of how to use spiritual weapons. It is only after he comes into spiritual maturity; being diligent in the study of the revelation knowledge of the word of God, that his inner man is enlightened and strengthened by the Holy Spirit does he know how to wrestle with the principalities and powers of the devil in his spirit.. As he spiritually advances with the Sword of the Spirit, he discovers the disguise and realities of Satan as an angel of light thus he is given all it takes to resist, attack and overcome his foe.
The scripture in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 states that we should pray without ceasing as Ephesians 6:18 admonishes us to watch withal perseverance and supplications for all saints

The scripture in 1Peter 4:7 that the end of all things is fast approaching and we should watch and pray in order not to fall into the trappings of the devil.
