The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa'ad Abubakar IV, yesterday in the United States of America, USA, pleaded with the international community to increase material and logistic support for President Muhammadu Buhari to fight and win the anti-corruption war.
Speaking with
top United
States
government
officials at the
Woodrow
Wilson Centre
yesterday, the
Sultan said he
not only
endorsed the
war against
corruption, but
also decried the
conversion of
funds meant for purchase of arms to fight Boko Haram
to personal use by few Nigerians.
He added that such funds would have enhanced the capacity of the military to fast track the fight against insurgency and possibly curtail the menace in the North- East Nigeria.
Speaking earlier, the Director of Woodrow Wilson Centre extolled the leadership qualities of the Sultan and thanked him for his tremendous support and assistance to United States agencies working on health-related and development issues in Nigeria.
