Bauchi police arrest suspected cultists for murder


Following the reported killing of one Abdulhakeem Bauchi by unknown persons and the recovery of his decomposed body, the police in Bauchi have arrested four suspects involved in the alleged murder.

The command said through discreet investigation, its operatives apprehended Michael Sansai, 23; Samuel Uzima, 24; William Yakubu, 28; and Dauda Akanni,26 years.

The command spokesman, SP Haruna Mohammed, said preliminary investigation revealed that the principal suspect, Sansai, is a member of the Black Axe Confraternity, a secret cult group.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects included one black Nokia 225 belonging to the deceased, seven wraps of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, torn clothes of the deceased, a SIM card and other incriminating items.

Mohammed stated that the case was under investigation to ascertain the motive behind the act, adding that efforts were being intensified to apprehend other fleeing accomplices after which the suspects would be charged to court.

The police also arrested suspected ritual killers for the death of one Bala Bulama, aged 60 years, of Unguwan Fada in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The suspects after the killing removed some organs of the victim including his head and penis.

Mohammed said investigation by police detectives led to the arrest of three suspects who he said confessed to the crime.

He said, “Discreet investigation by police detectives led to the arrest of three syndicate members who voluntarily confessed to have committed the act.

“They are Abdullahi Dalhatu, aged 50 years; Dangi Dalhatu, 56; and Ladi Bala, a female, aged 45years all of Tudun Wada via Tilden Fulani and Fadan Toro respectively.”
